World leaders and other international figures have condemned the killing of dozens of people in bomb attacks at the Egyptian resort of Sharm al-Sheikh.

NEW YORK, New York, July 14, 2005 (ENS) - The most difficult phase of recovery from last December's Indian Ocean tsunami lies ahead, former U.S. President Bill Clinton told the United Nations today at its headquarters in New York. The UN special envoy for tsunami recovery, Clinton has just returned from a trip to the Indian Ocean countries where he said many people are still living in tents, despite the resources that exist to create satisfactory, semi-permanent shelters.
Clinton told the UN Economic and Social Council meeting today on lessons learned from tsunami disaster that his experiences over the past five months as special envoy reconfirmed his belief in the intrinsic value of the United Nations, both as the deliverer of vital services in the aftermath of a crisis and "as the glue that holds international cooperation together."
"History tells us that this phase is in many ways the most difficult," Clinton said during a panel discussion on the disaster. "I am warning people that we may have more bad days than good this year. It will be a complex and frustrating time. Recovery in each country will need a customized response and will move at different speeds."

יותר מ-100 ק"ג חומר נפץ מסוג טי-אן-טי ועשרות רימונים, נפצים וכדורי רובה פונו אתמול (שני) בידי חבלני משטרת מחוז תל אביב מבית ברחוב הלל הזקן בשכונת כרם התימנים בעיר, שבה התגלה סליק גדול מתקופת המנדט הבריטי.
בעלי הבית, האחים לבית משפחת חג'בי, מכרו אותו באחרונה לבעלים חדשים, והגיעו בסוף השבוע האחרון כדי לפנות מהבית את חפציהם. אז נזכר אחד האחים, משה חג'בי, כי לפני שנים רבות אמר לו אביו, מאיר חג'בי, כי אם ייקלע אי פעם לצרה, עליו לשבור את הקיר שמעל לדלת הכניסה. שם, אמר האב, ימצא פריטים שיסייעו לו.
ואולם, סיפרו האחים, הם לא ייחסו לכך כל חשיבות, ומעולם לא בדקו מה מסתתר בתוך הקירות. בשבת נזכר הבן בדברי אביו, והחליט לשבור בכל זאת את הקיר כדי לבדוק במה מדובר. להפתעתו, גילה תיבה ובה מטבעות זהב רבים וכן רימונים ונפצים. כששמע על כך האח השני, עמי חג'בי, הגיע למקום ועלה לעליית הגג, שם חשד שאביו החביא דברים נוספים. כשהרימו האחים את הרעפים, התגלה חומר הנפץ.
האחים הזמינו הבוקר את המשטרה למקום. לחבלנים סיפרו כי בתקופת המנדט, טרם הקמת המדינה, היה אביהם מוכר כמעין "קצין חבלה" וספק נשק שסייע לשלוש המחתרות - ההגנה, האצ"ל והלח"י - ללא תמורה כספית.
ערכם של המטבעות נבדק והתברר כי אינו רב - כ-4,000 שקל. אשר לחומר הנפץ, הוא נלקח לפיצוץ מבוקר בחוף פלמחים.

אחרי בדיקה של למעלה משנה, דחה הממונה על ההגבלים העסקיים - דרור שטרום, את טענתה של מיקרוסופט ישראל כי לממונה אין סמכות בינלאומית להכריז על החברה כמונופול בישראל, והודיע לה במכתב בימים האחרונים כי יש בסמכותו להכריז על החברה כמונופול.
מדובר בנקודת מפנה ביחסים בין מיקרוסופט לממונה על ההגבלים העסקיים, המתכתבים כבר שנתיים בשאלה אם מיקרוסופט היא מונופול בישראל בתחום מערכת ההפעלה - חלונות, ובתחום חבילות התוכנה המשרדיות - אופיס.
מיקרוסופט טענה לאורך השנים כי לממונה אין סמכות בינלאומית להכריז על מיקרוסופט כמונופול מאחר שמדובר בחברה בינלאומית שאינה פועלת ישירות בשוק הישראלי, אלא פועלת באמצעות מפיצים המוכרים כאן את מוצריה, ובכלל - המוצרים שלה, גם בשפה העברית, מיוצרים באירלנד ולא בישראל.
אולם בבדיקה משפטית שערך הממונה התברר שהעובדה שמיקרוסופט דורשת ממשתמשי התוכנה שלה להירשם ולחתום בזמן שהם מתקינים את התוכנה על המחשב, ולאשר את זהותם כמשתמשים, יוצרת קשר ישיר בין משתמש הקצה הישראלי לבין החברה הבינלאומית. הממונה טוען שמאחר שנכרת חוזה ישיר בין משתמש הקצה לבין החברה, מתבטלת טענת מיקרוסופט שאי אפשר להכריז עליה כמונופול בישראל.
יש לציין, כי ברקע לדברים עומד גם הסכם ישן בין מיקרוסופט לממונה, שבו הודיעה מיקרוסופט לשטרום כי כל הגבלה שתוטל עליה בעולם, תחול עליה גם בפעילותה בשוק הישראלי. בינתיים, באירופה הוטלה על החברה חובה להפיץ "גרסה רזה" של חלונות ללא תוכנת נגן המדיה, אך מיקרוסופט ישראל הודיעה לשטרום כי היא תקבל על עצמה את ההגבלות שהוטלו על החברה בארה"ב, ולא את אלה שהוטלו באירופה. זאת למרות שמיקרוסופט ישראל כפופה למטה מיקרוסופט אירופה.
