1) Gunmen of the Islamic Jihad and the Al Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades of Fatah killed Dov, 58, and Rachel Kol, 53, while they were driving on a road that links the Kissufim crossing to the settlement bloc in the southern Gaza Strip.
Dov Kol, 58, and Rachel Kol, 53, were returning to their Jerusalem home after visiting Rachel's sister in the Gush Katif settlement of Ganei Tal when terrorists opened fire on their vehicles on the Kissufim Route, the main access road to Gush Katif.
S.C.: Dov was well known as belonging to the Peace Camp but his wife insisted on going for the last time to Gush Katif.
2) A couple in their fifties committed suicide in Petach Tiqva as they were
in Debt. This does not get big headlines!
טרגדיה אירעה שלשום בפתח תקוה: בעל ואשה, תושבי העיר, שמו ביום שישי בצהריים קץ לחייהם ביריות ביער נחשונים, הסמוך לעיר. השניים, הרצל ורבקהסלומון, בשנות ה-50 לחייהם, הסתגרו בתוך מכונית "איסוזו" והתאבדו בגלל קשיים כלכליים. האקדח נמצא בידיו של הבעל, הרצל, שישב במושב הנהג ולצדו נמצאה אשתו רבקה. שניהם נמצאו ללא רוח חיים, כשסימני הירי בראשיהם.
זאת, לאחר שבחיפושים שנעשו במכונית אחר מסמכים שילמדו על זהותם של שני בני הזוג, נמצא מכתב שבו הסבירו השניים כי בחרו לשים קץ לחייהם בשל חובות כספיים כבדים שאליהם נקלעו. מכרים של בני הזוג סיפרו בסוף השבוע כי השניים ניהלו עסק למכירת חומרי בניין.
